Project Overview
We have been assisting the largest bank in the Czech Republic and the entire KBC group since 2010 with technological innovations and the development of next-generation services that go beyond traditional banking.
The DoKapsy app provides access to mobile banking as well as various non-banking services such as discount coupons, public transport and train tickets, parking, and tips for foodie festivals. Thanks to these useful features, the app has hundreds of thousands of users and is highly rated on Google Play and the App Store.

Project Challenges and Objectives
Responsiveness in Development
We transitioned from a waterfall project management model to an agile methodology. This has undoubtedly brought greater flexibility and the ability to quickly respond to changing requirements and priorities. Currently, regular meetings such as Daily (Scrum) meetings, Sprint reviews, and retrospectives are held. These meetings allow the team to promptly identify and resolve issues, helping us to quickly add new functionalities and respond flexibly to user feedback.

In the banking world, the number one priority is security. Therefore, we minimize the use of third-party libraries and update them on a regular basis.

The Strategic Product Roadmap
In collaboration with Etnetera Sense, we have created an innovative product roadmap that aligns with ČSOB's strategy to support next-generation services that go beyond traditional banking. Starting in 2024, we will gradually implement redesigns and new features in the DoKapsy app to further enhance its functionality and appearance.
The User Research and Design
The entire project was preceded by thorough research of user needs in collaboration with STEM/MARK. Based on the findings, a modern and intuitive application was created. Key new functionalities are regularly tested with users to maximize user experience.
The Technology Framework

Testing and debugging also become easier.[.radek][.karta][.karta][.nadpis]Jetpack Compose[.nadpis][.radek]For Android development, the XML approach for UI development was replaced with Jetpack Compose.[.radek][.karta][.karta][.nadpis]Minimization of Third-Party Libraries[.nadpis][.radek]The use of third-party libraries is minimized to improve stability and security.[.radek][.karta][.karta][.nadpis]Unit Tests[.nadpis][.radek]Key parts of the code are covered by unit tests, which lowers testing time and eliminates the human factor from the testing.[.radek][.karta][.dlazdice]
Results
Since the first release of the app in 2020, it has continuously evolved, adding new features, and dynamically growing its user base. As of the end of July 2024, the app has over 320,000 users and a conversion rate between app downloads and registrations of more than 50%. In addition to a wide range of available services and products, the app emphasizes user-centric design and a well-thought-out app rating system, contributing to its high ratings in app stores.
We have long succeeded in effectively connecting product and project teams, contributing to high efficiency, dynamism, and quality in joint digital product development. The collaboration between ČSOB and Etnetera sets the direction for how traditional banks can transform their services through innovation and digital technologies.

- Access to mobile banking and various non-banking services such as discount coupons, public transport and train tickets, parking, and tips for foodie festivals.
- Trip suggestions or recommendation of the nearest gastronomic experience sased on the user's current location.
- The award-winning feature Market 24/7 utilizes the customer's bank or ČSOB identity along with a QR code generated in the app to grant access to continuous operations of numerous stores within the COOP, Můj obchod, PVA, Flop Top, Bala, and Super Zoo retail networks.
